Seattle Campaign
Out of the 105 schools and roughly 50,000 K-12 students in the Seattle School District, 4,000 experience hunger on a regular basis. The goal of our Seattle Campaign is to create a monthly, recurring, $275,000 donation stream, which will provide nutritious food to these 4,000 children year-round.

One-time Donation Total

Why are we focused on creating a recurring donation stream? Because hunger for these kids doesn’t stop. To end their hunger, our solution must be recurring.
Who are we asking to donate? Non-hungry Seattle households and anyone with a connection to Seattle.
How much are we asking you to donate?
Just $5 per month. There are approximately 300,000 non-hungry households in Seattle. If each non-hungry household donates $5 per month, we will have achieved our goal and created a significant reserve fund.
Why will it take $275,000 a month to feed 4,000 kids on an ongoing basis? Our solution involves providing weekend food packs during the school year and three meals a day during the summer. During the school week, eligible students get free breakfast and lunch at school. Kids are therefore most vulnerable over the weekend. A weekend food pack costs $10 per student.
For $5 a day, we can provide 3 meals plus a snack. 40 weeks in the school year X 4,000 hungry kids X $10 per weekend pack = $1,600,000. 84 summer days X $5/day X 4,000 = $1,680,000. $1,680,000 + $1,600,000 = $3,280,000 per year, divided by 12 months = $273,333 per month.
How much of my donation will go to feeding hungry kids? Everything you donate, other than a small credit card fee, will go directly to feeding hungry kids. All of Feed Washington’s operating costs are paid by its founder and one benefactor.
